Peeves #47, 48, and 49

December 17th, 2007 by Joshua

I hate it when I’m at the grocery store and the price of an item rings up different than what it said on the shelf. This happens a lot, and really makes me mad. I spend a lot of time comparison shopping, trying to get the best deal, and then I get to the checkout and all my plans come to naught. I think this has been happening more lately, as the price of food goes up. Moreover, I think it’s deliberate. There ought to be a law. That law should be that if something rings up at a higher price than what it says on the shelf, the customer gets the item for free. No ifs, ands, or buts. While I’m on the topic, another related issue makes me mad too. That’s the whole “5 for $3″ type of deal. I want to know what the price of one item is, for Pete’s sake. I don’t want five of them. Moreover, sometimes you get the multiple price discount if you buy one, sometimes you don’t. You just don’t know. This sort of thing should be illegal. They should have the price of just one item, period. I should run for office on this platform. I’d win- this affects everyone. Everyone comparison shops, I don’t care how much money they have. No one wants to over-pay. “Vote for Berlow, and What You See is What You’ll Pay!”

On a related note, as a Real Estate Agent I hate it when other Real Estate Agents take out ads for houses that don’t include the price. What good is that? I’ve seen entire Real Estate Magazines with pages of ads for houses that have NO PRICE! Flyers without the price! Tell me the price, willya? Again, there ought to be a law. If you advertise something, the price should be in the ad. No ifs, ands, or buts. That goes for anything, besides houses. If you advertise something, it should include the price.
