Untitled Document Travel Guide to the Haunted Mid-Atlantic Region

Call for Submissions (pdf)

The Mid-Atlantic Horror Professionals is now accepting submissions for an anthology to be published by Permuted Press in mid-late 2005.

Who we are:

The MAHP is a non-profit coalition of affiliated horror industry professionals residing in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington DC.

Our mission statement is to provide a mutual support umbrella network throughout the Mid-Atlantic region for those with a professional interest in the horror genre. MAHP members have access to regional networking, marketing, promotion, and professional development through MAHP coordinated events and gatherings, as well as the MAHP newsletter, directory, and web forum.

What we’re looking for:

Horror short stories, poetry and artwork with all or part of the Mid-Atlantic region involved in some way – not just as a passing mention. In other words, don’t simply tell us your story takes place in, say, Baltimore without including some of the things that make that city unique.

The subject matter is somewhat open as long as it’s horror, and it’s good. Work including vampires, werewolves and such will likely be rejected unless it is absolutely fantastic and offers a new twist.

You need not live in the Mid-Atlantic area to submit!

Stories with excessive grammar, spelling or puncutation errors won’t be considered. So if you’re one who prefers to defy the standards of proper English because you feel your art is confined by things such as rules, this may not be the market for you!

How to submit:

E-mail submissions only addressed to Editorial Committee editors@midatlantichorror.org.
Artwork must be in .jpg or .gif format. Stories must be in standard manuscript format. Attach stories or poetry as a .doc or .rtf file. Include a cover letter with a brief bio. Include your real name if you use a pseudonym, e-mail address and word count for stories, line count for poetry.

What you get out of it:

Well, in addition to being part of a stellar anthology, you will receive:

-$5.00 flat fee on acceptance

-royalties based on cover/sale price of the anthology, split equally among contributors. Actual royalty amounts will be based on sales and number of contributors.

-Trade paperback copy of the anthology.

More particulars:

Stories must be between 500 and 6,000 words. Poetry limited to 50 lines, maximum. Artwork must be black and white. Multiple submissions okay, but no more than five poems or three stories at once. Only one piece per contributor will be accepted. Simultaneous submissions okay as long as you let us know in your cover letter. Minimal number of reprints accepted (solicited work only).

Open to submissions through January 15, 2005 or until filled.

Response time will be anywhere from a couple of days to a few weeks (maybe longer depending on volume of submissions). We hope to respond as quickly as possible. Generally, a longer response time is going to mean your story is being held for further consideration.

E-mail (submission/questions) to editors@midatlantichorror.org
